How to Pursue Your Insurance Claim

Hurricane Irma was a devasted Hurricane in Florida. Many people are left with excessive property damages. Sadly, these homeowners insurance are either denying the homeowners claim or they are not paying the full amount owed. So here are a few tips in helping you pursue your insurance claim.

IMMEDIATELY CONTACT YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY-
Do not wait to gather any information. Your insurance must know right away that you suffer some property damages from the hurricane.

OBTAIN A COPY OF YOUR POLICY
you are going to need to know what is covered and what is not. Because the insurance company is going to try to tell you that everything or a bunch of things are excluded from the claim. That is another way the insurance company is attempting not to pay you. But do not give in. You can beat the insurance company to its own game.

IMMEDIATELY PROTECT THE PROPERTY FROM MORE DAMAGES.
If your roof is leaking, then put a tarp on it. If water is in the house, then clean it up or hire a company to do so. You have a duty to mitigate the damages. You cannot afford the property to obtain more losses. You have a right to protect the property from obtaining additional losses. So let your common sense prevail on this one.

WATCH OUT FOR THE CONTRACTS YOU ENTER IN.
Sometimes, homeowners get desperate and they sign contracts with third parties who assigned the entire insurance claim to it. So be careful. Speak with an attorney before signing any contract with any third party who claims it can help you fight the insurance company. Or if the third party agrees to fix your property but it requires that you turn over your entire insurance proceeds to it.

CONTACT AN ATTORNEY.
At some point, the insurance company might deny your claim, under pay your claim or just ignore you completely. You will need to speak with an attorney that handles insurance claim. Why?Because that attorney will help you get the money you need. You do not have to worry about taking any money out of pocket. So basically if you do not get paid the insurance attorney florida does. Do not sit back and do nothing. Call an Insurance Florida attorney now.
